Beth Jennings – The Journey Captured » I capture the journey of people in their personal and professional lives. I teach amateur photographers how to capture their life in beautiful photos. In 1999 I graduated from the prestigious BA (Commercial Art Photography) degree course at RMIT University. Immersed in films, chemistry and darkrooms, my budget was ‘$1 a shot’ which meant that I ensured every capture really counted.

I realised I loved working in real life and I photographed the romance of weddings for four years. It was natural to make the transition into capturing milestones in family life and then I widened my viewfinder to include professional life as well. Travelling always inspires me, pushes boundaries and asks me to explore in new ways.

When I deeply asked myself the question if I were to have an exhibition, what would I want to say, an earnest and ultimately successful pursuit of ‘my style’ began. Whether I photograph a building, a family or a portrait, I’m always looking for the personality of the subject, and their connection to their world.
