After yesterday’s overwhelming interest and feedback on the blog launch, I’m inspired to put something up today! Thanks so much for all the interest, emails and comments, it’s really encouraging and I’ll certainly keep going now.
Today I shut out a beautiful day – all in the name of art. I sat in my bat cave with the blinds closed so I could see my pictures on screen properly. After culling this shoot down to 120 possible frames, I ended up with a final set of 41 to show the family, 4 are here.
I just love this family, it’s the third time I’ve photographed them now, over the years. The first time was I think back in 2001 and these girls were littlies…well…one of them seems to still have her moments! They are happily part of my on-going Family Stories project, a long term plan to revisit families over the years and mark their developments and changes. It’s something that people can dip in and out of as they wish, when the timing is right for them.
Each shoot is so different and unique from the last! I always get a bit jittery but it’s generally a sign of good creativity to come.
Thanks so much PJ, T, E and M for putting up with the grass allergies and blustery conditions, I promise it was worth it! So glad too that we picked New Parliament House, it was a suitably Canberran and Australian location, and I love the sense of space that comes through in the images. Most of all I love the energy between the four of you that we managed to capture. Oh it’s so addictive!
