Our Chalk Circle

I was asked to capture the dress rehearsal pictures for Our Chalk Circle, presented by Inotrope Productions and St Kilda Uniting Care Drop in Centre. Our Chalk Circle is based on Bertoldt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle and is performed by community actors from the centre.  This project is supported by Theatreworks. It’s received funding from the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria, and support from the Australia Council and City of Port Phillip through the Cultural Development Fund. This is the third time they have received funding, so they must be doing something right. This production is under the stewardship of Director John Bolton, Designer Brian Lipson, Music Director Bagryana Popov, Lighting Designer Shane Grant, Community Actors Facilitator Katie Lockett and Producer Joseph Sherman. Music by Ernie Gruner and Fiona Roake.

When I arrived final rehearsals were underway.
This is the bird’s eye view of the performance area.

Everyone’s in costume and getting ready.

Such a lovely vibe…

Two rows of hay bales form a circle for the audience to sit on.

Let the show begin!

Oh so pretty!!

Good luck everyone! And thank you for having me along to capture all the drama and humor of your performance.
