Hit the road Jack [travel photography]

Yay, a road trip!

When I arrived back in Australia last year people were saying to me so where are you headed next?  I was like, hold on, I just unpacked my bags!!  I really wanted to stay put in Canberra for a bit, and spend some time thinking long and hard about my work, why I do it, what I’m trying to achieve with it.  Also having two exhibitons kept me busy.

If you know me well then you know it’s very un-Beth like to be in one place like this for so long… but I didn’t want to head out again until I had a clear plan… so this trip is a mini and Australian version of the beast I undertook last year.  From there I will see what possibilities there are to continue.  I want to capture as many families and beautiful places as I can along the way…I figure there must be some awesome stories in that, surely.  I realised recently I need to try to find ways to keep travel happening, because my best work comes from the constant stimulation that movement offers.  I’m loving this blogging business more and more, so I’ll share this trip with you as much as I can.

Where am I going?

Glad you asked…

This map was found here.

Sydney 16, 17, 18, 19 September
Newcastle 20, 21 September
Forster (near Taree) 22, 23, 24 September
Coffs Harbour 25, 26 September
Byron Bay 27, 28, 29 September
Forster 30 September, 1 October
Newcastle 2, 3 October
Canberra 4 October

Massive trip, actually. Australian distances always look deceivingly manageable on a map…but it’s going to be awesome! I can’t wait!!

Would you like to work with me to document your family life in 2010?

Then please get in touch as I’d love to hear from you. We can chat about your special family story and your landscape in more detail.   I have most of my schedule booked now, but I have just a couple of spots still open:

Sydney – Saturday 18th September
Newcastle – Monday 20th September (late afternoon)
Forster – down time to process the work and time with my dear grandmother
Coffs Harbour – fully booked
Byron Bay – Tuesday 28th September (late afternoon)
Newcastle
– Saturday 2nd October (late afternoon)

PS I am scared witless about driving in Sydney, so if I don’t complete this trip then you know I got lost in the labyrinth that is Sydney and never made it out again.  Me and Sandy (my GPS chick) are going to be the best of friends by the end of this…or arch enemies…wish me luck!
