Do you remember when you turned 3? Did your parents give you a party?
Today I’m going to tell you about a little angel called Isabella. Isabella was a very lucky little girl, living with her parents Vanessa and Udo in a beautiful home in Berlin. The day was approaching for Isabella to turn 3, so her parents decided it would be the perfect day for a party. All of Isabella’s friends were invited, and the parents too, and a wonderful afternoon was spent enjoying all the beautiful decorations, the party food, music and Livi the Lollipop facepainter.
I have a question for you – do you think Isabella will remember this day when she is an adult?
This is Isabella.
Would she remember the cherries and chalkboard?
Or the beautiful notes hanging in the trees?
What about her little friend Sam?
Would she remember the fairy bread and blowing the candles from the cake?
Would she remember all the quirky little moments?
Would she remember her soft round cheeks, blond hair and button lips?
Would she remember the other-worldly wonderment of having her face transformed into a butterfly?
Do you think she would have a chance at remembering any of her 3rd birthday party? If she’s lucky she may take one or two vague, fleeting memories with her into adult life.
And what about you – if you were there and took some photos, and Isabella asked you 20 years later as a young woman for the photos that you took that day, could you find them, and give them to her in say, less than 3 minutes?
This problem started when digital took over. We were fine in film days when we made albums and captioned the photos. My dream is to see a world where camera purchases are supported at the point of sale with sound and streamlined advice around best practice for digital photo management.
That way the first children of this digital photography generation will stand a chance of inheriting their childhood in pictures.
My book ‘Memories at your fingertips – organise your digital photos like a pro’ shows the reader in logical steps digital photo management, basic image enhancement and creative projects like photo books, slideshows and keeping a blog.
Support to my book project has been outstanding, overwhelming, phenomenal!
It ends this Thursday 27th February at 10.59am AEDT.
